The book ÒMaking Sense of LeadershipÓ discusses the five roles that a leader must possess to remain successful. The five roles presented tin the book are as follows:

  • Edgy Catalyser
  • Visionary Motivator
  • Measured Connector
  • Tenacious Implementer
  • Thoughtful Architect

Edgy Catalyser - asks the difficult questions know on else will ask. They can spot dysfunction and resistance while creating discomfort within an organization when the process is not going smoothly.

Visionary Motivator - can visualize goals and utilize the resources at hand to reach the goals. They are often known for energizing groups of people and engaging them toward a goal.

Measured Connector - this is a very simple yet powerful role which connects people within an organization by increasing communication across all groups and defining the purpose behind an organization.

Tenacious Implementer - always focused on the project at hand. They believe in following procedures and plans with minimal deviations and hold people accountable for their actions.

Thoughtful Architect - creates strategies for others to follow within the organization. They focus on the design of the mission and what process must be taken to meet the goals.
